For an inexpensive adventure, go on Tuesdays (Kids eat Free) to the Barton Spgs Austin Java location with a friend and ride the electric car. Park down road (next to Zilker) and they will shuttle you to Java (bring a dollar or two for the tip.)
It's pretty good "Austin" food and a fun, hip place to get a good drink treat (Mochas, smoothies etc.) Kids eat free all day on Tuesdays and they can play around the fountain on the patio. Then ride the cart back home. Maybe go to Zilker after.
